I Expect Wakaso To Make A Difference In Ghana vs Sudan Game – C.K Akonnor

The Black Stars Coach Charles Akonnor says he is certain the experienced midfielder Mubarak Wakaso will bring the needed balance to his team as they battle Sudan for glory later today.

The team had already faced the Falcons of Jediane in an AFCON 2021 qualifier winning the earlier fixture by 2-0 in Cape Coast.

However, C.K Akonnor expects an improvement especially with his side now playing away from home despite winning the first game in Cape Coast.

Speaking ahead of the game, C.K Akonnor mentioned that the team needs the right balance to dominate the game.

“Well, we need a balance. The right balance in attack and defence. In our first game, we found ourselves struggling when we lost possession and that is what we have worked on since the last match. And so, we are looking forward to improve in that area because we gave the opponent a bit of counter attack situations. And of course, we expect them to come with two strikers, they are playing home, they need to win etc and so we need to better in that area and I think once we are good in that area, we will find a good situation,” he said.

The all centered player, Mubarak Wakaso missed the first game due to club commitments. After helping his side Jiangsu Suning annex, the Chinese Super League title, the 30 year old is back and the Coach believes his availability is positive for Ghana.

“Its not going to be easy, of course they gave us some problems and that is my main concern. Its about that, we need to work without the ball and once we do that, we will be good. And I think Wakaso is there to give us that balance,” he concluded.

Nonetheless, Ghana tops their group with 9 points from three games and a draw will be enough to seal their fate as participants in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
