No person in Central region can be arrested for breaching COVID-19 protocols if Carlos Ahenkora is not prosecuted; Bright Botchway to the president

The Deputy Central Regional Youth organizer (incharge of operations) for NDC, Mr Bright Botchway has called for the prosecution of Hon Carlos Ahenkorah for violating COVID-19 protocols and intentionally spreading the disease in his Constituency.

Mr Botchway made these revelations in an interview with Fiifi Davis on Peace news on the 3rd of July, 2020.

Carlos Ahenkorah who upon reasons best known to him, tendered in his resignation letter as the Deputy Minister for Trade has received several backlash from the public for his actions.

However, Mr Botchway is of the view that the resignation is not enough, and Ghanaians in particular are disappointed in the president for not prosecuting the former Deputy Trade Minister.

“This issue is not funny
Ghanaians are totally disappointed in the president and particularly in relation to Carlos Ahenkoras resignation on this issue, it is not news. He ought to face the law and if possibly be prosecuted”, Mr Botchway fumes.

Mr Botchway further explained that Someone is behind bars for breaking the COVID-19 protocols. And yet Carlos Ahenkorah is walking a free man for committing the same offense someone’s father is being punished for.

He was however not surprised since the whole NPP as a party broke this law during their parliamentary primaries across the country and up to date no one has been arrested in relation to that clear disrespect for public safety laws.

“What has changed that someone has to face the law for breaking COVID-19 protocols and yet we don’t see any fault when a whole party machinery is found culpable of same offense?” , Mr Botchway expressed his shock.

Mr Botchway was still not satisfied that a whole Deputy Minister who is also a Member of Parliament and should have known better has to visit polling stations with this deadly disease just to infect people.

In conclusion, he indicated that no one can determine the number of people that has been infected through this Carlos’ shameful acts. And seized the opportunity thereby challenging the president that if Carlos is not prosecuted, no person in Central Region can be held hostage for committing same offense in the future.

He as well called on the Ghana police to as a matter of urgency, begin embarking on mass arrests starting from the President through to the party executives if they want Ghanaians to take them serious.

He explained that if the laws of the land is really working, then Carlos should be made to face the full rigorous of the law.
